Coyam 2006

A stylish, full bodied, medium rich, complex wine, with excellent flavors and length. It is very supple in texture and persistent on the finish, tasting of black currant, toast, cedar, and black cherry. Biodynamic.FOUR STARS

Restaurant Wine - February, 2009

FOUR STARS- Highly Recommended

An interesting blend of Syrah, Merlot, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Mourvedre, this is big, dense and rich with a lot of black fruits and pepper.

Decanter Magazine - January, 2009

Made with Organically grown grapes, Coyam is a blend based on syrah and Carmenere grapes along with cabernet, merlot and a bit of Mourvedre. The latest vintage is generously ripe, with aromas and flavors of black fruits and sweet spices battling for primacy. Together they blend into an opulent, juicy red. 91 Points.

Wine & Spirits - February, 2009

Ripe and Muscular, with freshly plowed dark earth, currant, fig, bittersweet cocoa and tobacco notes all wound up under a layer of dark, spicy toast. Flashes of graphite and minerality lurk on the finish. 91 Points.

This very interesting wine, which was made from biodynamically grown grapes, is comprised of 34% Syrah, 31% Merlot, 17% Carmenere, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Malbec. Althought it is undeniably dark and dense and muscilar in character, it also shows very impressive aromatic complexity, with fruit notes of dark berries, plums and black cherries as well as in teresting accent notes of dried herbs, cedar and subtle woodsmoke. There's enough tannin to firm and define the wine into the finish, but the tannins are quite fine ingrain and never turn astringent.

Coyam 2005

...exhibits an attractive array of pepper, vanilla, clove, cassis, and black fruit aromas. There is ample ripe fruit, very good flavors with some complexity... Time is likely to round this wine out at which point my score will appear to be conservative.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate Issue171 - July, 2007

"Concentrated, with a layer of creamy toast leading the way for blackberry and boysenberry fruit, dark cocoa, graphite and sweet tobacco. Has a lot of fruit in reserve, but a nice terroir note on the finish as well. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Debut vintage for the U.S. market. Drink now through 2009."

Wine Spectator Insider - March, 2007

"With earthy complexity rounded out by lush fruit flavors, this delicious Syrah/Carménère/Cabernet Sauvignon blend is well-priced considering the quality level. Grippy, plush and vibrant, it has just about everything you want in a red. The chic label of oak bark is an ode to the name Coyam, which is a native word for oak forests."

Complex spicy tobacco, tar and fruit cake aroma. Sweet fruit, minty mineral notes on a tightly knit palate. Elegant wine with a finish reminiscent of the nose. FIVE STARS!

Decanter Magazine - June, 2008

Outstanding. Complex, spicy, tobacco, tar, fruit cake aroma. Sweet fruit, minty, mineral notes, tinghtly knit palate. Elegant. Complex finish.

Decanter Magazine - December, 2008

A very different blend of grapes; ripe and spicy…has its own unique charm with a bit of smoke and spice and a satisfying, very persistent finish.
