Maschio dei Cavalieri Prosecco Valdobbiadene Vintage Not Specified

Stylishly floral sparkling wine with hints of citrus and vanilla custard; soft entry because of a trace of residual sugar, but ultimately rather dry and aimed at Thai dishes or merely to serve as an accompaniment to appetizers. An excellent value.

Sparkling wine is always a good way to start.  For a lighter bubbly, select a Prosecco.  One from Maschio dei Cavalieri would be fine.

Floral scents introduce this sweet, lemony Prosecco. It's soft and easy; for lemon pound cake.

WINE & SPIRITS - August, 2007

A very fine Prosecco di Valdobbiadene. I have introduced this Prosecco to the gang and it toped practically everyone's list. Tiny bubbles and a frothy mousse, it tastes primarily of lemon and lime with hints of fresh-baked bread and apricot. You could pay much more for a Superiore di Cartizze, but this is as good as the best, without the high price.

"Delicate melon and mineral character on the nose. Medium-bodied, with crisp lemon and white pepper flavors and a fresh finish. Drink now."

Wine Spectator - April, 2007

Color: brilliant straw. Persistent, tiny bead. Aromas: acacia, ripe citrus, almond blossoms nose. Palate: dry and well-balanced, melon, peach, and green apple. A fresh, frothy, summer wine

"Comes in a Champagne-style bottle. Pale gold-hued and elegant, it's fragrant with hints of citrus and acacia, and fresh-tasting, with creamy perlage. Just perfect for a diversity of seasonal delectables."

"Light bodied with toast, yeast, fresh biscuit, and pear; aggressive mousse with tangy acidity on the finish. Grilled tuna with arugula and tomato. Buy and serve youngest vintage available"

Santé - June, 2006

"Aromas of sweet, ripe fruit with floral notes. Fresh tastes with persistent bubbles with a creamy texture but short finish."

Frank Sutherland - Tennessean - January, 2006

"Nicely balanced and more complex than most renditions, this classy Prosecco was splendid by itself and delicious with the sushi. The wine's inherent hint of sweetness proved a boon to the salty soy sauce, while its steely finish kept everything in gustatory equilibrium."

This is close to as good as Prosecco gets, and high-end Prosecco can be very good indeed.  … A wine that presents a very strong argument for the school of thought that believes Prosecco can succeed as an essentially dry wine. Rich and foamy but surprisingly taut and focused at once, this is a complex and interesting wine that belies the notion that Prosecco is simply an unserious wine for poolside sipping--though it would serve that purpose quite nicely.  90 Points

Dominant Kiwi aromas with hints of Gala apple and young green grapes. Medium bodied with some residual sugar, notes of lime zest, and a fleeting finish.

Santé - October, 2008

Bright and refreshing, clean flavors of citrus and pineapple, rich textures, a fuller-bodied Prosecco than most. 87 Points
